Working in the Sci-Bono building has been an interesting experience. Mainly because of the fun gadgets (read:distractions) along the way to my office. I also really enjoy seeing young people learning and having fun at the same time. But it’s not always fun and games…
Last week, as I headed down to the coffee shop for my daily cappuccino, a troop of nursery school children marched along the cobbled pavement outside the Sci-Bono building. They’d just completed an activity in the class (there are classes for children) and are now on an adventure. As they march two by two and holding hands, I smile to myself and wave back as their squeals of joy and laughter fill the air. They’re excited and happy.
As I turned the corner towards the coffee shop, the happy atmosphere is shattered as squeals of joy turn to shrieks of fear. I run back around the corner and am confronted with petrified children, screaming and running in various directions. The teachers/minders gather them all, soothing them and drying some tears. I rush to see if I can help and come face to face with the offending creature.
Personally, love these dinosaurs.

The creature comes alive. Its head from side to side while it growls. Its talons move up and down, clawing at the air ready to pounce.
Cool right?
(Not when you’re 5).
The problem is, you can’t turn it off. It goes off on its own after a couple of minutes. A long time for teachers trying to convince the troops that it’s not real and it really is okay to walk past.
Once it stooped they finally laughed and believed (no one pressed the button again though).
